 La Pile 

Social media video production around the expo "La Pile" at the Bozar (Brussels), in an on-going collaboration with City Mine(d), a non-profit specialised in urban interventions. Bringing together researchers, citizens, innovators and government, “La Pile" explores the possibility of neighbourhoods becoming energy independent. Video series IN DEVELOPMENT FOR 2021-2022.

 Black speaks Back 

"KREYOLIZATION, Resisting Assimilation Violences in Dutch and Flemish education". A performative documentary created in collaboration with Emma-Lee Amponsah, PhD candidate Ghent University, for the collective Black speaks Back. Presented at the 7th Biennial Afroeuropeans Network conference, "Black In/Visibilities Contested" (Lisbon, July 2019), and at the UCLA conference "On the matter of Blackness in Europe" (Los Angeles, October 2019). ///// (click here to watch the video on Youtube)

 Portraits of Resilience 

Different iterations of Dr. Sophie Feyder's research include a street exhibition in the township (Wattville, Gauteng, 2013), a formal exhibition in Johannesburg ("Sidetracks", 2014), and the publication of an art book (co-written by Tamsyn Adams, Fourthwall Books, 2017), as well as an art video (selected for Arles photo festival, 2017). In a 3 min trailer, she explains the major arguments of her doctoral thesis in an accessible way.

 Property & Democratic Citizenship 

(Prof. M.E. Maeckelbergh): Production of short documentaries detailing the findings of the ERC-funded research project exploring the impact of property regimes on experiences of citizenship. The goal will be to disseminate its conclusion to a broad, international audience and create connections between various civil society groups facing similar challenges such as home evictions, escalating debt and social unrest.
We also will be giving video production training for the researchers in the team, who will be recording during their field research. IN DEVELOPMENT

 S Jay Levy Fellowship (CUNY) 

Two 2 min videos, presenting the fellowship to prospective grantees and partners and encouraging them to apply.

 Archeology Mechelen 

Video series around the year-long excavation of the cemetery at St Rumbold’s cathedral in Mechelen. Goal was to enthuse residents of the city and spread the word among researchers and historians. 6 episodes, around 5 min each, 2011.

 Walter Benjamin film project 

Johann van Gerwen's personal documentary film project that weaves together Walter Benjamin’s work and the story of his father, who was the founder of 'the international Walter Benjamin Association' until his own untimely death at the age of 42. IN DEVELOPMENT

 weaponized Volunteering 

(Prof. E.Grassiani and dr. Itamar Shachar): A two-minute video presenting the main arguments of an upcoming special issue on the theme of the military and volunteering.

Why This (working title)
